Background

Oğuzhan Tuğral is a multidisciplinary musician, music theorist, researcher, and audiovisual artist whose work connects music, technology, and visual storytelling. With more than ten years of professional performance experience as a guitarist, arranger, and educator, he has developed projects ranging from concert performance and music production to interactive multimedia systems.

He completed graduate studies in music at the University of Massachusetts Amherst after earning a master's degree in Historical Musicology at Istanbul Technical University. His interdisciplinary background also includes journalism and communication, shaping an artistic approach that combines narrative, design, and human-centered creativity.

Research & Creative Practice

Alongside his artistic work, Oğuzhan conducts research at the intersection of music cognition, human-computer interaction, and artificial intelligence. His research focuses on real-time multimodal systems that integrate musical performance with physiological signals such as EEG and heart-rate variability, creating new ways of studying musical perception, emotion, and interactive performance.

His work has been presented at international conferences including the Cognitive Neuroscience Society (CNS), the Society for Music Perception and Cognition (SMPC), and Society of European Music Psychology Research (SEMPRE). These research activities directly inform Sounds in Color, where scientific thinking and artistic practice evolve together into immersive live experiences.

Sounds in Color

Sounds in Color represents the meeting point of these two worlds. Every performance combines live guitar, original musical arrangements, carefully curated visual narratives, and real-time multimedia technologies into a single performance language. Rather than treating visuals as decoration, each image becomes part of the musical structure, allowing audiences to experience music as something both heard and seen.
